Excellencies, Distinguished Participants,

I’m honored to address the 2023 Global Digital Economy Conference’s Digital Security Forum. Digital tech drives innovation, powering the digital economy and fostering growth and jobs. However, it also brings risks like misinformation, hate speech, and cybercrimes.

The United Nations recognizes the need for digital transformation, emphasizing cybersecurity, privacy, and critical infrastructure protection. We’re developing the Global Digital Compact to promote a secure, human-centered digital future, fostering SDG progress.

Singapore focuses on digital connectivity and AI for the Public Good, with a commitment to international collaboration. China shares this focus, investing heavily in AI.

Our goal is interoperable digital economies, benefiting people and businesses. We aim to enhance cross-border data flows and digital trade facilitation with like-minded partners.

Singapore and China maintain a strong, future-oriented partnership, collaborating on various projects, including the Belt and Road Initiative. Digital collaboration is key to our bilateral and international economic cooperation.

I’m eager to hear the discussions and developments from this Global Digital Economy Conference. Best wishes for the event.

Thank you.
